The Ministry of the Interior National Immigration Agency (the “NIA”) has started to issue new UI No. for foreign nationals since Jan. 2nd, 2021.
To establish a friendly environment for foreign nationals, the NIA will change the UI No. format for foreign nationals from the current code to a new code consisting of one English letter followed by nine digits (hereafter referred to as “the new UI No.”), in conformity with the code used for citizens’ ID card numbers.
In response to the Ministry of the Interior of the R.O.C.(Taiwan) on the policy of the replacement and issuance of the new UI No. for foreign nationals, if your UI No. kept in the Bank has not been updated, you can apply for modification via either of the following ways:
Fill in the “Date Modification Application (for the change of the new UI No. for foreign nationals)” and “Self Certification Form-Individual”, which can be downloaded from the Bank’s website (https://www.megabank.com.tw) and post it to any branch of the Bank together with the copy of the certificate or instrument which contains the new UI No.. The information of branch address can be referred to the Bank’s website (https://www.megabank.com.tw).
Visit any branch of the Bank in person with the original of the certificate or instrument which contains the new UI No.
The change of the new UI No. will not affect the use of your account withdrawal password which you have agreed with the Bank and of the ATM Card you have held.
Customers who have applied for non-discretionary money trust business shall contact any branch of the Bank to Re-evaluate Investment Attributes. Please note that you may not apply for any subscription or other transactions with the new UI No. until the UI No. of the agreed deposit/debit account for trust investments has been also changed. The trust balance may not be redeemed with the new UI No. until the conversion of data has been completed by the Bank.
If you have applied for the service of Internet Banking (including the Bank's Mobile Banking App), when receiving the Bank’s notification that the new UI No. has been changed, please go to the log-in page of Internet Banking or Mobile Banking App, click “First Login” and use the new UI No. to reset your User id and Password. If you have already applied for the service of Mobile OTP, you need to log in to the Mobile Banking App to re-apply for the Mobile OTP; if you have already applied for the E-Token or XML certificate, they will become invalid after the new UI No. is changed. Please visit any branch of the Bank to re-apply for the aforementioned security control systems with the new UI No.
In order to protect your rights and interests, if you have agreed with the Bank on the direct debit/credit of your account (such as credit card deduction, payroll transfers, and tax payment/refund for income tax declaration, etc.), please confirm that it has been changed to the new UI No. by the relevant entity, so as not to affect the operation of the direct debit/credit.
